An economical solution for electrostatic coating!

Reliable component inspection is imperative

Static component detection using measuring light curtain

The control unit and the interface are integrated in the receiver unit, which means that additional equipment can be omitted. Axel Forster explained that an important premise of his decision is to have a high-quality fieldbus system suitable for CAN bus, in which each independent light curtain represents a CAN node rather than the master-slave concept. The light curtain is parameterized directly through the control system, which stores parameters and facilitates exchange without re parameterization. The calibration mode and bar graph display of received signal strength will be integrated into the display for fast and safe calibration. Due to the short beam response time, even the fast process can be reliably detected. Another important requirement is that due to the high cleaning requirements of the working environment, the light curtain used must meet the strict cleaning requirements. Axel Forster said: "it must have a solid metal housing, explosion-proof device and an easy to read display with a solid membrane keyboard."
Dynamic measurement using optical distance sensor
In various customer cases, when larger objects such as the whole crane shaft need to be detected, static measurement with CML light curtain is no longer feasible. It requires a measurement site length of more than three meters and a range of up to eight meters, as well as higher functional reserves. He cooperated with Gema control and Automation Manager: instead of using the previous CML light curtain, they first tested the rotoscan rod-4 optical distance sensor for protecting objects and used it in Gema coating laboratory
The complex and large components are measured on one side of the easy to measure electronic dynamic measurement task. This device works much like an area scan sensor. It scans the front area in an optical and non-contact manner, so as to realize the full coverage detection of the object. The beam is deflected through a rotating mirror and sprayed to a 190 ° semicircular area with a radius of 50 meters. The area is divided into two detection areas, each with a radius of 15m. A protected area can be freely defined in each protected area. The detection area pair can be saved and switched in rod-4. You can define different heights or protrusions. Rotoscan continuously measures its environment and uses the serial interface to provide measurement data for further processing. At Gema Switzerland, this function is dedicated to contour detection of shrink carriers and components to be sprayed. In addition to better hyperopia, optical scanners can also improve height control due to different detection area sizes. Therefore, this is a "Parking Aid" for the spraying room.
Solutions that also meet security requirements
Two years ago, dynamic measurements using rotoscan optical distance sensors were first tested in the Gema project in the Czech Republic. So far, scanners have become part of Gema Switzerland's standard product family. The project participants agree that, similar to the tasks and requirements they jointly solved in the past, they will also solve the security requirements together in the future. The safety model of Lloyd's electronic optical scanner is called RSL 400, which can conduct 270 ° safety monitoring in full coverage.
